Spain’s Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, explains that the London Summit will be 'the start of an economic recovery and will establish a new and fairer international economic and financial system.'
The Prime Minister talks about how the meeting will mean the creation of 'anew international order with a financial system that is transparent, secure, effective and reliable to eliminate the incentives that have led to abuse and greed.' He also highlights the aims ofending tax havens and ensuring that developing countries continue to receive the financial support they need.
The speech is also usedto highlight Gordon Brown's role in the Summit. Mr Zapatero believes that Mr Brown will know how to 'drive through agreements and decisions' during the summit, and that there is a commitment on Spain’s part, as well as a belief amongst the Spanish people, that this meeting will mark the beginning of the recovery.
Finally, the Prime Minister reiterated that Spain’s position throughout this crisis has been characterised by its firm commitment to social protection.

Finance Minister Solbes webcast for the London Summit
In his webcast on the London Summit, Spain's Vice-President and Minister for Finance and the Economy, Pedro Solbes said that finance needs to 'pay attention to consumers,' serving the public and not the other way round.
